About the Session

Join Tania De Berardino and explore the rich creative dialogue between art and craft, and elevate your domestic realm into the glorious space of art!

Throughout the history of art, the methods, techniques and materials associated with the 'domestic' have often been regarded as craft and Women's business. Sewing, textiles and fabric have wrongly been devalued in comparisons to painting and sculpture.

We will explore finding inspiration and connection to the everyday things in your kitchen, dining room and home - and use these to create art. Taking inspiration from artists who have elevated domestic items into fine art objects.

Draw inspiration from your workstation, kitchen or classroom.
We will work through creating studies in drawings, exploring shape and form. Introducing colour and texture, we will transfer our chosen outcome/drawing onto fabric and extending our work with stitch and applique.

Explore the idea of creating a piece of art from our personal day to day experiences.

This workshop is suitable for upper primary and secondary classrooms, as well as to further inspire your own art practice.
