About the Session

About the Session

Guided by acclaimed artist Fiona McMonagle, this workshop delves into contemporary ink drawing and expressive mark-making. Explore washes, layering, scale and unconventional tools while embracing ink’s unruly nature—transforming drips and accidents into dynamic abstract imagery.

Participants will focus on the rhythm of line, tone and gesture, approaching each work as an evolving field rather than a fixed representation. Fiona will also share how she extends these analogue investigations into moving image, offering pathways for educators to expand traditional practice without leaving the fundamentals of drawing behind.
