Born in Letterkenny, Ireland, Fiona McMonagle lives and works in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia.
A Melbourne-based artist, McMonagle is widely recognised for her watercolour portraits. Her practice explores the potential of ink and watercolour, extending into moving image and large-scale works that challenge traditional boundaries of the medium.

Since graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) from the Victorian College of the Arts, McMonagle has exhibited extensively across Australia. Her work has featured in numerous acclaimed solo exhibitions as well as significant curated group shows.

Recent highlights include her inclusion in Portrait23 at the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra, and Frida & Diego: Love and Revolution at the Art Gallery of South Australia. Her work is held in major public collections, including the National Gallery of Victoria, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Art Gallery of South Australia, National Portrait Gallery, Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery, Monash University Museum of Art, UQ Art Museum, Newcastle Art Gallery, Artbank, and Maitland Regional Art Gallery.
