Georgia Close

Georgia Close is the Head of National Learning at the National Gallery of Australia. In this role she works with a team of program managers and artist educators to lead opportunities for audiences of life-long learners across Australia to connect with the National Gallery collection and exhibitions program.

Georgia has worked in museum and gallery education for twenty years, holding education and public programs roles at Campbelltown Arts Centre, Hurstville Museum and Gallery, Wareamah/Cockatoo Island and the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia. Growing up on Dharawal Country in south-west Sydney, Georgia is passionate about building pathways to art through inclusive, accessible and welcoming learning opportunities for diverse audiences.

She works with artists and audiences to shape learning experiences that spark curiosity and creativity, while emphasising meaning-making, storytelling, shared understanding and new perspectives.
