Maree Clarke

Maree Clarke is a Yorta Yorta/ Wamba Wamba/Mutti Mutti/Boonwurrung woman and an independent multi-disciplinary artist and curator with over 30 years' experience working in the contemporary and cultural First Nations arts sector. She is a leading possum skin artist, also working with kangaroo teeth, echidna quills, glass and photography, 3D photographs, photographic holograms and has been a curator at the Koorie Heritage Trust and Wyndham Art Gallery.

Maree was selected as the Line Wide artist for the five new Metro Stations being built in Melbourne and was just recently appointed as a Jury member for the new NGV Contemporary build.

Maree’s passion is to research and recreate material cultural objects and items held in Museum collections around the world, learn how these were put together and pass that knowledge onto the next generation.
